HISTORY OF THE MEXICAN JUDO
THE JUDO IN MEXICO:
The General Plutarco Elías Calles, during the years 1927-1928 solicitate to bring from Japan to professor Nabutaka Sataka, to teach him classes of physical training and of Ju-Jitsu and taking advantage of that Professor Sataka had available time after the classes, it was commissioned to also teach this martial art in the National School of Teachers (Normal), where he imparted his knowledge to the students of that time, which learned his technique quickly representing to his institution in 1929 in the First Inter-school Tournament taken place in the International Sport Club. While at the end of 1936 in the Y.M.C.A. of Balderas, the professor Sataka solicitate to bring two Japanese assistants to promote the Ju-Jitsu in several sport schools of the student sector. On the other hand in 1953, the professor Daniel Flowers Hernández student of the trainer of Belgian nationality Andrés Kolishkini, imparts classes in the "Sport Club Hernández", first in his specialty in Mexico in the teaching of the Judo and place considered as the cradle of this sport in our country, in that same year it founded the Mexican Judo Association in functions of Federation, achieving this made up to 1956 besides that Daniel Flores headed the Presidency of this sport organism in that year. Of the Sport Club Hernández the most distinguished competitors in that time arose, as well as the first black belts, as well as the first professors of the Judo in our country like Félix Sosa, Federico Delon, Rafael Navarro, Gabriel and Salvador Goldschmied, Angel Tavisón and Antonio Márquez.
Important Achievements:
The Mexican Judo participates for first occasion in 1958 in the Central American and Caribbean Tournament of La Habana, Cuba and Gabriel Goldschmied is proclaimed champion of the fair one; while Federico Delon and Daniel Fernández are awarded the silver in their respective categories. Mexico goes for the first time to an event of Continental character in the Pan-American Championship of the specialty taken place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where Gabriel Goldschmied, got the silver medal; triumph that makes appear to Mexico inside the square of medals at international level. On the other hand in the World Championship of 1961 in Paris, France, participated representing Mexico like team Salvador Goldschmied and Francisco Zepeda. On the other hand in the Olympic Games of Tokyo, Mexico competes with 3 judokas figuring René Arredondo, Salvador and Gabriel Goldschmied, where this last one is the first Mexican in disputing an olympic medal. During the Central American and Caribbean Games of San Juan, Puerto Rico, happened the most excellent participation in these competitors where they obtained the following results: Carlos Espinoza, silver medal; René Arredondo, gold medal; Gabriel and Salvador Goldschmied, gold medal; Fernando Goldschmied, bronze medal.
