The Barbados Judo Association takes pleasure in inviting you to its 8^th International Independence Judo Tournament November 20^th to 24^th 2007 in Bridgetown, Barbados.

We hope to welcome you in Barbados during the month of December 2008

Entree Fee: All competitors are required to pay an entry fee of twenty United States dollars (US $20.00) each, if entry form is received by the Association on or before 3^rd October 2008.  Thereafter, but on or before 24^th October 2008, the entry fee will be forty United States dollars (US $40.00).  No entries will be accepted after Friday 24^th October 2008.

Insurance: Each competitor or his / her delegation is responsible for his or her sports accident insurance and civil liability insurance.  The Barbados Judo Association will not accept responsibility for any illness, injury, permanent disability or death of any individual during the period of the tournament.

Official Transportation: Transport from the airport to the hotel on arrival; from the hotel to the airport on departure and to and from the competition and training sites  will be provided by the Barbados Judo Association free of cost.

Rules: International Judo Federation Rules will be used for this tournament (The Barbados Judo Association reserves the right to make modifications in the best interest of the contestants).

Judogis: White Judogis mandatory, blue Judogis optional.

Method of Competition: The method of competition will be the elimination system with double repechage for categories with six (6) or more competitors.  Categories having five (5) or less competitors, round robin pool (all competitors fight against each other) will be used.  In the Round Robin (all against all) competition, winner of the pool is determined by the most wins.

-       If tied in wins, by the most points (Ippon = 10, Waza-ari = 7, Yuko = 5, Koka = 3 Yusei-gachi = 1)

-       If two (2) competitors are tied in wins and points.  The victor of the head to head fight between the tied competitors is the winner

-       If three (3) or more competitors are tied in wins and points they will compete again until there is a clear winner.

-      Golden score will be in effect in this tournament

Proof of Age: Age will be verified by means of Passport or Barbados ID card

Contestants per Category (Entries): There will be no restrictions on the number of competitors per country.

Visas: The delegations from the Dominican Republic and Haiti require visas to enter Barbados.  If you need the assistance of the Barbados Judo Association for the acquisition of visas, you must send to the Association on or before Friday 12th October, 2007 the following for each applicant. The cost of the visa is fifty US dollars (US$ 50).

      -     Personal data (Name, date of birth, occupation, height, colour of eyes, gender, etc.)
-     Date and place of issue of passport

All other delegations may enter Barbados using a passport issued by their respective governments.

Awards:

Medals will be awarded as follows:

First place -Gold medal
Second place -Silver medal
Third places (two) -Bronze medal
 

Trophies: Team trophies will be awarded for first, second and third places.

Ippon trophies  (two –one male, one female)
The first place will be awarded to the country earning the most gold medals.  If tied in golds, then the most silvers; If tied in silvers then the most bronze medals.  If a tie still exists then the places (5^th, 7^th etc.) will be considered until the tie is broken.
