PARTICIPATION RULES
a) Each country shall participate with: One competitor per category of weight
b) Each competitor must be able to prove his / her identity, age, nationality, through a official passport from the country of origin, excepting the Argentinean Competitors, who will only need their National Identity Document.

COMPETITION SYSTEM
ROUND ROBIN (up to 5 competitors)
SIMPLE PRELIMINARY UIT DOUBLE CROSSED REPECHAGE (more than 5 competitors)
TIME OF COMPETITION
For all the categories, male and female, the time of competition will be of 4 minutes.
AWARDS
For the athletes:
Medals & Diplomas will be the awards for the first three places per category.
Diplomas will be given to the Fifth (5th) Places of each category.
For the Participating Countries:
Trophies will be given for prizing Teams (1º, 2º & 3º place for males and females).
Trophy for “PJU Great Champion” will be the award for the country that gets the biggest number of gold medals.
For the Delegations’ Members:
Participation Diplomas will be given to each of the members of the Participating Delegations.
WEIGH-IN AND COMPETITION
The athletes will do the weigh in according to the following schedule:
Friday 28 (Pan-American Championship)
06:00 - 07:00 am Unofficial weigh in
07:00 - 08:00 am Official weigh in
All the juvenile categories (15 and 16 years old) – Male and Females
Saturday 29 (Pan-American Championship)
06:00 - 07:00 am Unofficial weigh in
07:00 - 08:00 am Official weigh in
All the juvenile Categories (17 to 19 years old) – Males and Females
The athletes shall present their passport and their respective event’s accreditation so as to verify his / her identity before the Official weighs in. All the athletes shall be affiliated to the Pan-American Judo Union, and in case of being black belts, they must be recognized by the PJU (Resolutions 1 and 2 – Pan-American Judo Congress – Santo Domingo 2002)
Sunday 30 (South American Championships)
06:00 - 07:00 am Unofficial weigh in.
07:00 - 08:00 Official weigh in.
All the categories (15 & 16, 17 to 19 years old) Males and Females.
FOOD AND LODGING
a) Sixty American Dollars (USD 60) daily per person, which includes lodging, food and internal transportation from and to the airport, the hotel, the training places and the Competition venue.
OPENING CEREMONY
Once the delegations arrive, the Organizing Committee will hand in all the information regarding the General program and the Opening Ceremony.
NATIONAL SONGS AND FLAGS
Each federation shall bring their own Flag (1.20 x 1.80 Mts) and a cassette with the National song of their country (short version) and present them when they arrive at the accreditation desk.
RULES
THE PAN AMERICAN AND SOUTH AMERICAN JUDO CHAMPIONSHIPS, CATEGORIES: MALES AND FEMALES , will be conducted in accordance with the current Rules of the International Judo Federation (IJF)
1. The Athletes of the Categories 15 and 16 years old (Junior), they won't be able to participate in the competitions of the category from 17 to 19 years old (Juvenile) and vice versa.
2. In the Juvenile Category 15 and 16 years old are forbidden the techniques of levers or separations (KANSETSU WAZA), but they will be admitted the techniques of strangulations (SHIME WAZA), those competitors of the category of 15 and 16 years old that intentionally any Kansetsu Waza applies they will be admonished with DIRECT HANSOKUMAKE.
EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE
The Organizing Committee will provide an Emergency Medical Service to all the participants officially enrolled by their National Federation.
In case of any need of Extraordinary Medical attention, such as injury and / or illness that requires hospitalization, special treatments, surgery and / or medicine, the costs will be assumed by the National Federation the athlete represents. Thus, all Participating Federations will not make the PJU, the Organizing Committee or the Argentinean Judo Confederation responsible for any accident incurred during the development of the competition.
UNFRESEEN
Everything that has not been herein foreseen shall be resolved by the Executive Committee of the PJU and of the AJC.
SPECIAL NOTE: COACHES’ CONTROL AND REGISTRATION
In order to have a close control regarding the coaches’ proceedings in the Competition Area, the PJU will provide a Registration to this end, so the Organizing Committee will deliver all the coaches an Official PJU Vest, which coaches must wear to enter to the Competition area.
COMPULSORY FINAL DECISIONS:
All the participants officially enrolled by their National Federations shall respect the resolutions approved by the PJU Congress conducted in Santo Domingo, regarding the annual affiliation payment for the 2003, which shall be cancelled when registering in the city of Buenos Aires, considering as follows:
1. Competitors: 20 US $
2. Officials: 30 US $ (delegates, referees, doctors, physiotherapists and coaches)
3. Dan Grade recognition: 60 US $
