Subjec: Qualification XIV Panamerican Sport Game

Distinguished Presidents:

We are hereby informing you that in the Executive Committee meeting held in City of Guatemala, Guatemala on February 6th, 2003 with the presence of the 100% of its members and being the main topic qualification for the XIV Pan-American Games to be held in the city of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic from 1st thru the 17th of August 2003; seen already defined the qualification of 96 athletes in the past Pan-American Senior Judo Championships held on the 8th and 9th of November 2002 and reducing the amount to 30 qualified athletes needed to complete the designation of 140 athletes by the Pan-American Sports Organization (PASO) has designated to us; seen the recommendation of the Sport Director of the PJU and some National Federations, the following decisions were made:

1. To make one last qualifying event in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on May  9th, 2003.

2. To the referred event those countries that do not have the qualifying places by the Sports Director of the PJU on December 30th 2002 will be able to participate with one (1) athlete in each weight class and two (2) athletes in each weight class will be selected.

3. The rules of the event will be upheld by international regulations; for example, if an athlete appears in alone in one category, the athlete will not be declared the winner.

4. After finalizing the event and in case the qualifying places are not determined, the Executive Committee will decide on the granting of such.

5. The National Olympic Committees will have until the May 1st  2003 to inform the acceptance into the qualifying places, we talked about the total amount of 140 athletes and in the case of not doing it for the indicated date the non interest will be considered and the Executive Committee of the PJU will act on the basis of the point # 4.

We want to stand out that the whole information on the shares that the countries obtained with their results in the 2002 Pan-American Judo Seniors Championship, carried out in Santo Domingo city (Dominican Republic) they were placed in the Web Site of the Pan-American Union Judo in the following address URL:
