Matter: Sentence of the Court of Arbitration for Sport, Colombia vs PJU Case, TAS /2006/A/1186.

Distinguished Presidents:

We inform you that today has come out the sentence of the Court of Arbitration for Sport, with their offices in Lausanne, Switzerland; about the claim made by the Colombian Olympic Committee against the Panamerican Judo Union, regarding the gold medal of the Female Kata Competition of the VIII South American Games held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from November 9th to 12th, 2006.

This claim was supported by the documentation given by the Colombian Judo Federation signed by its president Mr. Hernando Arias Giraldo, based on false and unfounded appreciations, as well as the use of the incorrect rules of competition, which had as main purpose to grant the gold medal given to the Venezuelan couple Flor Velazquez and Geraldith Fernandez to the Colombian double, Margarita Castaño and Liliana Ibarra. 

For your best information we transcripted the resolution made by the Court of Arbitration of Sports.

The Court of Arbitration for Sports resolves:

1.- That CAS has no jurisdiction in order to solve the present dispute between the Colombian Olympic Committee and the Panamerican Judo Union, which is why we deny the appeal made by the Colombian Olympic Committee.

2.- The present decision is without cost, except in the case of the Court Office Fee of CHF500 (Five Hundred Swiss Francs), which will be kept by CAS..

3.- Each party will take care of its own expenses.
