To all National Federation members to the Panamerican Judo Union

Ref: Ruling of the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) in the case CAS 2009/A/1823.

Dear Members:

Please find enclosed the ruling issued last December 11th by the Court of Arbitration for Sports in the suit we started against the International Judo Federation. It goes as follows: December 2009.

ON THE GROUNDS

The Court of Arbitration for Sport rules that:

1.- The appeal of the Panamerican Judo Union is upheld, and the Decision of the 27 March 2009 is declared invalid for all purpose.

2.- The decision of the Executive Committee of the International Judo Federation to recognize the Panamerican Judo Confederation as the sole union to represent the American continent is set aside.

3.- The costs of the arbitration, to be determined and served on the parties by the CAS Court Office, shall be borne by the International Judo Federation.

4.- The International Judo Federation is ordered to pay to the Panamerican Judo Union a contribution of CHF 15,000 (fifteen thousand Swiss Francs) towards its legal fees and expenses. Each party shall bear all other costs incurred in connection with this arbitration.

5.- All other claims for relief are dismissed.
