The Executive
Committee of the Panamerican Judo Union gathered in this city, demands the
International Judo Federation (IJF) the immediate fulfillment of the arbitral
decision issued by the Court of Arbitration for Sport last December 11, 2009,
CAS 2009/A/1823 Panamerican Judo Union vs. International Judo Federation.
The lack of respect of this arbitral decision on behalf of the International
Judo Federation is obvious when it does not inform about the Olympic
classification London 2012; when it holds the Olympic dividends from Beijing
2008; when it organizes events with the illegal and banned “Panamerican Judo
Confederation”; when it refuses to inform the different regional and continental
organizations such as PASO, CACSO, ODESUR, ORDECA and ODEBO,
among others, that the Panamerican Judo Union is the sole legal organization to
manage the technical areas of the multidisciplinary regional and continental
events; when it holds the payments of the rights of the World Championships in
Rio de Janeiro 2007 and Rotterdam 2009; when it maintains on its website the
illegal and banned “Panamerican Judo Confederation”, among other violations.
Furthermore, the Panamerican Judo Union actively rejects the new actions taken
by the President of the International Judo Federation, to unrecognized and
disaffiliate us ignoring the arbitral decision that removed and banned the
“Panamerican Judo Confederation”, when it requests our documentation and that of
the other continental unions who are rightful and founding members of the so
called new organization by moving the offices from Dublin to Lausanne. We must
remember that the Panamerican Judo Union has been part of the International Judo
Federation for more than 40 years, specifically by request of the international
organization.
How can the President of the International Judo Federation believe that the
world of judo and the public opinion can accept a new excluding measure against
the Panamerican Judo Union, when everybody is aware of your wish to unrecognize
us, in what can be submitted to vote by an Executive Committee, compromised in
its majority, as already happened last march 27th, 2009?
For this new aggression, the President of the International Judo Federation
wishes to use a statutory modification of August 23, 2009, ignoring the fact
that the arbitral decision was issued on December 11, 2009; it’s not a matter of
retrospective, the arbitral decision does not count as a law, but as a sentence.
Finally, we requested the President of the International Olympic Committee, Mr.
Jacques Rogge, to intervene before this lack of respect of a sentence issued by
the highest court of sports of the world, in order to force the International
Judo Federation to comply with the arbitral decision.
Moreover, request Mr. Mario Vázquez Raña and Mr. Carlos Nuzman, members of the
International Olympic Committee and Presidents of PASO and ODESUR respectively,
to stay vigilant of this decision of the International Judo Federation to
violate the Olympic Chart, together with Mr. Hector Cardona, President of CACSO.
Our claim also goes to Mr. Anton Geesink, Mr.Patrick Hinkley and Mr. Lasanna
Palenfo as important figures of the leadership of Judo in the world and also
renown members of the International Olympic Committee, to join this request for
the respect of the rights acquired by the Panamerican Judo Union in a clean and
transparent process.
