Mexico was the first nation to arrive at the so expected event with a numerous team, where children count on their parent’s support, who have come with them to ticos’ land.
The United States is another country with a large team of athletes, who are also supported by their parents. Jose Humberto Rodriguez came as head of America’s delegation. Mr. Rodriguez is also the Executive Director of USA Judo, Inc.
Although not as large as Mexico’s or the USA’s delegations, Puerto Rico’s delegation of athletes and their parents are heard everywhere with their joy and enthusiasm.
Later in the evening, the rest of the delegations started to arrive. The children’s joyfulness could be felt throughout the corners of the Best Western hotel that the organizing committee chose to host the different nations that will be taking part in this event. By down, the hotel was full of athletes from the delegations of Argentina, Peru, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Brazil, and Venezuela.
There’s an excellent ambiance. It’s a true celebration of continental judo. From these pages, we will be reporting on this event for children from 11 to 14 years of age, divided in two categories (11-12 and 13-14).
Judo paintings exhibition opens.

the Panamerican Judo Union inaugurated the judo
Master Barcelo has given drawing materials to each one of the delegations, so that each child who wants to take part in this Panamerican Infantile Painting Contest may do so.
Here at the Championships, we’re still waiting for the rest of the delegations, which will arrive in the next few hours. Meanwhile, this afternoon we’ll be holding two important events: the referees meeting, at 4pm, and the technical meeting, at 6pm. Both events will be held at Best Western Irazú’s conference rooms.
Mr. Casanova, President of the PJU, expressed his opinion about the event. “I’m really pleased with this edition of our children’s competition at the international level. This is an event that favors judo. The Americas’ greatest judo players are here. The Panamerican Infantile Judo Championships are our pride, and they must become the pride of every national federation too. This is the fifth edition of this event, and I’m sure we’ll soon be seeing the results of this initiative, which was born out of the need of having a greater number of activities in our continent, a solid technical development, and a wide spread of our sport. I’m happy to see so many children; I’m happy to see their faces, of feeling the happiness that they transmit, and in these moments it is that you that our work is rewarded, when seeing all these happy children, growing as men and women of the silent one of the future"
