INVITATION

QUALIFICATION TOURNAMENT FOR THE 2003 PANAMERICAN SPORT GAMES

10TH. Panamerican Judo Circuit

X International FEDOJUDO Cup
IX Central American and Caribbean Championships
From 9th to 12th May 2003

Dear Presidents of National Federations member of the PJU

In this opportunity we are writing to you to inform you that during the day 9th May 2003, the Dominican Judo Federation will be doing together with the Panamerican Judo Union, the Qualification Tournament for the Panamerican Games 2003, especially to all those countries who do not have competitors in some weigh categories either male or female. This tournament will take place previous to the traditional FEDOJUDO Cup and the Central American and Caribbean Games 2003.

 

            After this qualification event, the X and IX editions of the traditional FEDOJUDO Cup and the Central American and Caribbean Games corresponding to the second stage of the X Panamerican Judo Circuit 2003 will take place. All the Federations member of the PJU that are willing to participate in these events can do so, and both of them will be held during 10th and 11th May in the city of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

 

These events will be organized for the higher categories for male and female, y we would feel flattered if your teams were present in these tournaments for which we extend our formal invitation. We are hereby sending attachments of the events, programs, registration forms and flight itineraries.

PARTICIPANTS:

All the countries who would like to participate in the Qualification Tournament to the 2003 Panamerican Sports Games, the X FEDOJUDO Cup and for the Central American and Caribbean Championships, shall notify before hand either via facsimile or e-mail, as soon as possible, in order to quantify the availability and give them and immediate response.

CONDITIONS:


For the Qualification Tournament for the XIV Panamerican Sports Games

 

A.- Techniques:

            1.-Rules of Competitions and Sports Code of the Internatioal Judo Federation (IJF) adopted by the PJU.

            2.-Male
            -60, -66, -73, -81, -90, -100, +100 Kg.
            3.-Female

            -48, -52, -57, -63, -70, -78, +78, Kg.

 

B.- Participants:

   
    1.-Each country shall participate with a maximum of one competitor per category of weight either for male or female categories where there is not any previous qualified athlete as a result of the 2003 Panamerican Senior Championships, conducted in the city of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.  

       2.-Two athletes as maximum will qualify in each weigh category ( First and second places ) according to the competition qualification standards of the Panamerican Judo Union, in the weigh categories and for male and female. The information concerning the weight divisions which have achieved a place to the Panamerican Sports Games is published in the PJU WEB SITE and listed by country, and the URL addresses are the following: http://www.pju.org/nuevo/mempanagame2003esp.htm  (Spanish) http://www.pju.org/nuevo/mempanagame2003eng.htm  (English).

        3.-This Resolution was taken by the Executive Committee of the Panamerican Judo Union , in the meeting conducted in Guatemala one month ago, February 2003, and said Resolution has been published also in the PJU WEB SITE, at : http://www.pju.org/nuevo/camclasJDP2003.htm

 

For the International “FEDOJUDO” Cup and the IX Central American and Caribbean Championships.
 

    A.- Techniques:

    D.- Administrative:

Before the official weigh in starts, the athletes must present their passport and their respective Accreditation for the event in order to verify the identity of them. All the athletes must be affiliated to the Panamerican judo Union and in case of being black belts, they must be PJU Recognized ( Resolutions 01 and 02 of the Panamerican Judo Congress - conducted in Santo Domingo - 2002 )

 

Since all these events are OFFICIAL Events of the Panamerican Judo Union, all the participants officially registered by their National Federations must comply with the resolutions of the Panamerican Judo Congress, conducted in Santo Domingo, about the annual affiliation payment corresponding to this year 2003, and which will be cancelled once registered in the city of Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), and following the prices listed hereinbelow:

1. Athletes: 20 US $

2. Officials: 30 US $ (delegates, referees, physicians , physiotherapists, coaches)

3. Grade Recognition (Dan): 60 US $

ACCOMMODATION:

 

 

The arrival day for the delegations to come to the International “Fedojudo” Cup and the Central American and Caribbean Games will be on Friday, 9th May, (due to problems regarding hotels availability). The name and address of the official hotel will be notified in its due time. All the countries that participate with more than a competitor in any weight category either for male or female shall pay for their accommodation and food, in which case there will be and additional cost of US $ 45 daily per person, for double o triple rooms. 

The Dominican Judo Federation will offer Accommodation at a hotel and Free food to one competitor for each weight category, officials, coaches and referees according to the delegations group and strictly following was has been pointed out in the chart of Section “C” ( Officials who can go with competitors).   

 

The countries that register more than one competitor per weight category shall pay for their participation as stated in the previous paragraph.

 

Considering the dates, the previous or posterior stay will be charged to the delegations to a price of US$ 45 daily per person.

 

Note Well:  Those delegations who do not take the benefits that the Dominican Judo Federation is giving them shall pay US $ 100 per person for Registration.

 

TRANSPORTATION:

 

The participating delegations shall have the following transportation commodities:

            A.-From the airport to the hotel and viceversa.

            B.-To the Training places.
            C.-To the Competition venue
.

 

DATE OF REGISTRATION:

 

1.-First Notification

            The National Judo Federation of each country shall send the registration form with the number of participants (Numeric Registration Form) to the Organizing Committee before March 24th 2003.

   
 2.-Official Registration

            The National Judo Federation of each participating country shall send the registration form with the name of the competitors (and their respective categories), coaches, referees, and officials to the Organizing Committee before April 22nd 2003.       

 

3.-Flights Information

            It must be sent to the organizing committee before April 22nd 2003, specifying : Airline, Flight No., Time of arrival and number of people.     

 

DATES OF QUALIFICATION TOURNAMENTS OLYMPIC GAMES AND X PANAMERICAN JUDO CIRCUIT:

 

1º.-From 1st to 5th May 2003.

Qualification Tournament of Olympic Classification Zone II and SIMON BOLIVAR International Cup (First stage of the X Panamerican Circuit).
 

2º.-From 7th to 11th May 2003.

Qualification Tournament of 2003 Panamerican Sports Games,  X International FEDOJUDO  Cup and Central American and Caribbean Games, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. (Second stage of the X Panamerican Circuit). 

 

 3º.-From 15th to 17th May 2003.

IV Puerto Rico Open International Cup. (Third stage of the X Panamerican Circuit). 

 

4º.-From 22nd to 25th May 2003.

Qualification Tournament of Olympic Classification Zone I and Mexican Olympic Festival BENITO JUAREZ Cup, city of Mexico. (Fourth stage of the X Panamerican Circuit). 

 

5º.-From 30th May to 1st June 2003.

Male and Female International Cup , FECOLJUDO and Jigoro Kano, Seniors. Colombia. (Fifth stage of the X Panamerican Circuit). 

 

6º.-From 9th to 12th October 2003.

Qualification Tournament of Olympic Classification Zone III. Buenos Aires, Argentina.

 

NOTE WELL:

 

        1.-Each country must bring their own national song ( recorded in a cassette or CD – short version) and flag.

        2.-The VIS permission to get into Dominican territory is of full concern of the Immigration Authorities from Dominican Republic. However, any inconvenient could be solved if you send us a previous notification with enough time to solve the problem in case there is one.

        3.-Each National Federation will be fully responsible in case of accidents and / or illnesses, as well as civil responsible for their delegations during their stay in Dominican Republic.

        4.-During the event there will be physicians available for first aids.

       5.-The climate of Dominican Republic, Mexico, Venezuela and Cuba, are similar.

 

Final and Temporary Conditions:

 

Everything not previewed in this rules, terms and conditions, shall be decided according to the following: 

·         Technically speaking: Shall be decided by the Technical Commissions of the PJU together with the Dominican Judo Federation.

·         From the point of view of Administration and Organization: Shall be solved by the organizing committee.

 

REFEREEING:

It has been decided to carry out the PJU Regional Examination (PJU “C”), during the FEDOJUDO cup and the Central American And Caribbean Games.
