VI Copa Internacional FEDOJUDO

10/06/00 (Santo Domingo, Especial UPJ)  El día de hoy se realizó la VI Copa FEDOJUDO, en la Casa Nacional del Judo, ubicada en el Centro Olímpico "Juan Pablo Duarte" de esta ciudad.

El acto inaugural estuvo presidido por el Ingeniero Jaime Casanova Martínez, Presidente de FEDOJUDO, el Sr. Nelly Manuel Doñé, representante de la Secretaría de Deportes, el Dr. José Joaquín Puello, Presidente del Comité Olímpico Dominicano y de la Organización Deportiva Centroamericana y del Caribe, el Sr. Luis Mejía, Secretario del COD, el Lic. Frank Fullerton, Director Deportivo de la Unión Panamericana de Judo, así como los representantes de las 18 delegaciones participantes.

A las 11 am se dió inicio a las competencias con los combates eliminatorios, y las finales comenzaron a las 7 pm.

En la categoría +100 kg, el venezolano Reinaldo Vargas sumó otro triunfo dentro del Circuito Panamericano, al derrotar en la final al campeón defensor de la Copa FEDOJUDO 1999, el dominicano José Vásquez.  En los 100 kg, el argentino Andrés Loforte supo cubrir la ausencia de su compañero Alejandro Bender (campeón de las ediciones 94, 95 y 99), para ganar la categoría ante el canadiense Steve Edmonds.

En los 90 kg hubo un duelo entre puertoriqueños, cuando se enfrentaron Carlos Santiago y José Luis Figueroa (campeón del 97), quien resultó el ganador de la categoría.  En los 81 kg, el duelo fue de argentinos, entre Ariel Sganga (campeón del 99) y Diego Rosatti, quien sería el ganador de la categoría.

En los 73 kg, el peruano Germán Velázco (campeón del 99) sumó otra victoria dentro del circuito, al derrotar en la final al dominicano Antonio Parra, para retener su título del año anterior.  En los 66 kg, el español Carlos Montero sumó su título a los dos logrados en Colombia la semana pasada, derrotando en la final al clasificado olímpico Melvin Méndez (PUR).

En los 60 kg y 55 kg hubo un par de duelos entre dominicanos.  En 60 kg, Juan Carlos Jacinto (campeón del 97 y clasificado para Sydney 2000) derrotó a Esteban Nuez.  En los 55 kg, Juan de Paula derrotó en difícil combate a Robert Gómez.  Finalizando la rama masculina, en la categoría abierta, el dominicano José Boissard (campeón en los 81 kg en el 98), derrotó al argentino Andrés Loforte, para llevarse la medalla de oro en esta difícil división.

En la rama femenina, 44 kg, Yarely Suero (DOM) defendió con éxito su título del 99 al derrotar a Herlín Carios (VEN).  En 48 kg, la ecuatoriana Juliana Rodríguez derrotó a la dominicana Jenny Martínez, para lleverse el primer lugar.  En los 52 kg, la mexicana Adriana Lozada obtuvo su tercer título (98, 99 y 2000) en esta copa, al derrotar a la campeona del 97, la argentina Belén Benítez.

En los 57 kg, la puertoriqueña Jéssica García retuvo su título del 99, al derrotar en la final a la dominicana Johana Román.  En los 63 kg, la argentina Mariana López obtuvo el primer lugar, al derrotar a la venezolana Rudimar Fleming.  En los 70 kg, la venezolana Mahlin Chirinos derrtó a la argentina Alumine Bossero, para obtener la medalla de oro.

En los 78 kg, la dominicana Dulce Piña logró su sexta victoria en esta Copa (94, 95, 96, 97, 98 y 2000) derrotando en la final a Colleen Simonelli (USA), convirtiéndose así en la atleta con más victorias en este torneo.  En +78 kg, la ecuatoriana Carmen Chalá derrotó en la final a la panameña Estela Riley.  Ella volvió a ganar otra medalla de oro en la división Abierta, pero esta vez ante la venezolana Yéssica Rivas.  

Dentro de los cuadros generales, República Dominicana dominó el femenino con 23 puntos, seguido de Venezuela con 22 y Ecuador con 15.  También dominaron el masculino, con 34 puntos, seguidos de Argentina con 17 y Puerto Rico con 14.

Finalmente, el cuadro general fue dominado por República Dominicana con 57 puntos, seguidos por Venezuela con 31 y Argentina con 28.

10/06/00 (Santo Domingo, Special UPJ) Today was held the VI FEDOJUDO Cup, in the National House of Judo, located in the Olympic Center “Juan Pablo Duarte” of this city.

The Opening act was presided by Engineer Jaime Casanova Martínez, President of FEDOJUDO,  Mr. Nelly Manuel Doñé, representative of the Secretary of Sports, Dr. José Joaquín Puello, President of the Dominican Republic Olympic Committee and of the Central American and the Caribbean Sport Organization, Mr. Luis Mejía, Secretary of the DOC, Lic. Frank Fullerton, Sport Director of the Pan-American Judo Union, as well as the representatives of the 18 participant delegations.

At 11 am began the competitions with the eliminatory combats, and the finals began at 7 pm.

In the +100 kg category, the venezuelan Reinaldo Vargas added another victory inside the Pan-American Circuit, when defeating in the final the defender champion of the FEDOJUDO Cup 1999, the dominican José Vásquez.  In the 100 kg, the argentinean Andrés Loforte knew how to cover his partner's Alejandro Bender absence (champion of the editions 94, 95 and 99), to win the category against the canadian Steve Edmonds.

In the 90 kg there was a bereavement among Puerto Rico representatives, when Carlos Santiago and José Luis Figueroa faced (champion of the 97) who was the winner of the category.  In the 81 kg, the bereavement was between argentineans, among Ariel Sganga (champion of the 99) and Diego Rosatti who would be the winner of the category.

In the 78 kg, the dominican Dulce Piña achieved her sixth victory in this Cup (94, 95, 96, 97, 98 and 2000) defeating in the final to Colleen Simonelli (USA), becoming this way the athlete with more victories in this tournament.  In +78 kg, the ecuadorian Carmen Chalá defeated in the final the panamanian Estela Riley.  She won another gold medal in the Open division, but this time against the venezuelan Yéssica Rivas.

Inside the general charts, Dominican Republic dominated the female with 23 points, followed by Venezuela with 22 and Ecuador with 15.  They also dominated the male with 34 points, followed by Argentina with 17 and Puerto Rico with 14.

Finally, the general chart was dominated by the Dominican Republic with 57 points, followed by Venezuela with 31 and Argentina with 28.
