IMPORTANT NOTE:  As a matter of convenience, the name of the last competitor that is shown to have participated in the Quota events has been utilized.  It is realized, that in many instances more than one competitor was involved in obtaining points for the ranking.

It is understood that the selection of a competitor to participate in a category of competition identified as qualified in the list outlined above is with in the prerogative of a National Olympic Committee provided the competitor that is selected meet the following minimum eligibility conditions:

  1. To be registered members of their IFJ affiliate National Federation
  2. Minimum 1st Dan (according to the IJF Statutes, Article 23,1).
  3. To have participated in at least 1 World or Continental Senior Championship or in 2 International or pre-Olympic IJF Tournaments, in the 4 years preceding the Olympic Games.
  4. To be selected by their respective NOC in the qualification system approved for the Panamerican Judo Union.

It is urgent and very important that each of you whose athletes have qualified a place or places for their National Olympic Committee to immediately communicate with your National Olympic Committee and receive an early commitment from them to include Judo athletes in their delegation that will participate in the 2008 Summer Olympic Games.

Since the place or places belong to the National Olympic Committees, it will be appreciated if the appropriate representatives of the National Olympic Committee directly notify the Sports director of their decision by utilizing of the following methods:

E-mail:               bordertex@gmail.com

Fax:                   (915) 566-1668

In order to meet the established deadlines of the International Olympic Committee and the International Judo Federation concerning the reallocation of a place or places in the event a National Olympic Committee chooses not to utilize a place or places assigned to it and the notification to the International Judo Federation by the PJU, the response of your National Olympic Committee should be received by the Sports director no later than the close of business on June 1, 2008.

Your immediate attention to this matter of great importance, so that all procedural and notification deadlines are met well in advance, will be greatly appreciated and will enable the PJU to utilize all of its allocations.

Hoping to hear from your National Olympic Committee by the deadline of June 1, 2008.
