The Barbados Judo Association takes pleasure in inviting you to its 2001 Independence Judo Tournament and its 1^st International Independence Judo Tournament 23^rd t 26^th November,  2001 in Bridgetown, Barbados.

Entree fee:

All competitors are required to pay an entry fee of US $10.00 each.

Accommodation:

Delegations must pay sixty United States dollars (US $ 60.00) per person per day for accommodation (triple or quad, three (3) or four (4) persons per room) and meals (breakfast and dinner).  Delegations will be responsible for their lunch.

The Organizing Committee will make reservations for all delegations.

Insurance:

Each competitor or his / her delegation is responsible for his or her sports accident insurance and civil liability insurance.  The Barbados Judo Association will not accept responsibility for any illness, injury, permanent disability or death of any individual during the period of the tournament.

Transportation:

Transport from the airport to the hotel on arrival; from the hotel to the airport on departure and to and from the competition site will be provided, free of cost by the Barbados Judo Association.

Rules:

International Judo Federation Rule will be used for these tournaments (The Organizing Committee reserves the right to make modifications in the best interest of the contestants).

Judogis:

White Judogis mandatory, blue Judogis optional.

Method of competition:

The method of competition will be the elimination system with double repechage for categories with six (6) or more competitors.  Categories having five (5) or less competitors, round robin pool (all competitors fight against each other) will be used.

Categories:

Categories according to forms 2 and 3.

Match Duration:

Divisions  F1, F2, F3, M1, M2, M3, M4                3 minutes

Divisions F4, M5, M6                                              4 minutes

Division M7                                                              5 minutes

Shime - Waza / Kansetsu - Waza:

Divisions  F1, F2, F3, M1, M2, M3, M4                No chokes     (Shime-Waza)

                                                                                  No armlocks  (Kansetsu-Waza)

Divisions F4, M5                                                     Chokes          (Shime-Waza)

                                                                                  No armlocks  (Kansetsu-Waza)

Division M6, M7                                                      Chokes          (Shime-Waza)

Proof of age:

Age will be verified by means of Passport

Contestants per category (entries):

For the 2001 Independence Tournament each country with the exception of the host country) is allowed to enter only one (1) competitor per category.

In the 1^st International Independence Tournament there will be no restrictions as to the number of competitors per category.

Visas:

The delegation from the Dominican Republic require visas to enter Barbados.  The nearest Barbadian Consul is in Haiti.  He is:

All other delegations may enter Barbados on a Passport issued by their respective Governments.

Awards:

Medals will be awarded as follows:

                                   First place                 -           Gold medal

                                   Second place           -           Silver medal

                                   Third place (two)       -           Bronze medal

1. 9 years and under         Division          F1, M1, M2

2. 10 -13 years                   Division          F2, F3, M3, M4

3. 14 - 19 years                  Division          F4, M5, M6
