	Japón, cuna del judo, se afirma en Atenas como la gran potencia. El judoca japonés Tadahiro Nomura, campeón en la categoría de menos de 60 kilos en Atenas, hizo leyenda con el hito histórico de haber ganado tres medallas de oro consecutivas. Nomura se une al oro revalidado por su compatriota Ryoko Tani Tamura en la categoría de menos de 48 kilos mujeres.

She was very good on the whole, also in the bronze medal fight, but she lost her concentration for just 5 seconds, which is too long in judo. She didn’t listen to me and was to active in the last minute of the match. I told her to wait, but she kept attacking and she should have actually defended her position." "We expected to win the gold in the under 52kg and SAVON could have retired with that feeling. Now she might compete again later this year in Korea and Fukuoka (Japan) and retire after those two competitions."
