PAN AMERICAN JUDO UNION WILL GIVE TOTAL SUPPORT AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO FEVEJUDO IN ALBA GAMES

The second edition of Bolivarian
Alternative for America (ALBA) will be held in Venezuela, April 27 to May 12,
2007 and will have the participation of athletes from 19 countries in 37
disciplines, 30 of them belong to the Olympic Cycle.
This information was given in a press conference celebrated in the amphitheatre of Venezuelan Olympic Committee, Caracas by the competition Organizing Committee integrated by Mr. Eduardo Alvarez minister of Popular Power to Sports, Mrs. Juana de Suarez Vice-Minister of High Performance, Mr. Victor Vargas Director of High Performance of National Sports Institute and Oswaldo Vento Vice-President of INDER, Cuba.
The Eng Jaime Casanova, President
of Pan American Judo Union was invited to the press conference to support this
sport initiative where Judo is included and which will have Centro Nacional de
Judo as competition scenario. This is located in Caracas, Venezuela.
As a request of Venezuelan Judo Federation, Organizing Committee is about to include Katas and Teams competitions in this Games version to motivate such competitive modalities of Pan American Judo.
Antonio Zavarella, President of Venezuelan Judo Federation expresses his pleasure because of Mr. Jaime Casanova presence and he said “Jaime has always support this sort of activities all along the continent, this ALBA games will be the perfect scenario to model Judo competitions to Pan American Games, we are sure that a high competition level will be shown by the countries from America and Spain as a guest country. Hotel accommodation, meals and local transportation will be in charge of ALBA games organization. We are sure that these Games will be an amazing success and will allow together with the Simon Bolivar Cup, present some of the National Judo Teams”
Sport Minister, Eduardo Alvarez announced that there are 20 countries invited to the event, moreover some National Federations in some disciplines have requested including other countries what makes these Games a very special edition.
Eng Jaime Casanova, from Dominican
Republic said “I am here attending the invitation of Sport Minister of
Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and Venezuelan Judo Federation to support judo
competitions that will be held this very year, June 9-12. As Continental Union
with 42 affiliated countries from Pan America will give technical support to
Venezuela, all concerning to Draw and Video Retard System, Kata judging and
combats refereeing as well individual as teams competitions. This is our
function and in PJU we have always stood these initiatives that obviously go in
benefit of Pan American Judo. This is the second edition of ALBA Games and PJU
could not attend to the first one in La Havana , Cuba because of the multiple
activities scheduled for the year 2006, even when Cuban Judo Federation had also
requested our support, however ALBA Games are already schedule in PJU agenda for
the following years and we will be there to stand these competitive events".
