ELIGIBILITY: 

The 5th PAN-AM Judo Masters Championship is a kata and shiai tournament open to all Judokas, 30 years of age and over both female and male and that are permanent residents of North America, Central America and South America and in good standing with an association affiliated with the I.J.F.

The registration must be received before November 2, 2007.

Kata Competition (three (3) kata maximum) CAN  $ 100.00 or US $ 85.00 per participant (2 participants per team)

Shiai competition – CAN $ 100.00 or US $ 85.00 per participant.  This cost permits Judokas to participate in both the individual, open and team events. If a participant is registered in both Kata and Shiai Competitions a credit of CAN $ 50.00 or US $ 42. 50 will be applied to the registration fees.

There is the possibility to register on site but this is to the discretion of the Tournament Director.  Late registration will have an increased cost of CAN $ 25.00 or US $ 20.00.

IMPORTANT:

The official registration form must be completed and accompanied by the registrations fees. All registration forms not filled out  properly or having not included the registration fee will not be accepted. The  registration forms that have  the proper fees and properly filled out but arrive after  the closing date, if they are accepted at the discretion of the organizers , will find an increase of CAN $ 25.00 or US $ 20.00 at the time of the accreditation.

NOTE:

Fees of CAN $ 24.00 or US $ 20.00 will be taken from your registration fees to cover the cost of the registration to the Pan American Judo Union (PJU).

Rules & Regulations:  

Article 1:     A participant may compete in a maximum of  three (3) katas and not twice in the same  category of kata.

Article 2:     Only white judogis should be worn and accepted.

Article 3:     The classification of the winners will be attributed for their performance by the total amount of points given by the judges. (Total of points of the 3 judges.)

Article 4:     The Grand Champion title will be given to the TEAM that accumulates the most point in presenting three (3) katas.

Article 5:     The Katas must be presented in the original form has stipulated and demonstrated by the KODOKAN.  All other artistic forms will not be permitted (music, real weapons, etc.).

 Rules & Regulations:    

Article 1:     For the Shiai Tournament, the age division of the participant is determined by his birth date on the 30th of November, 2007.

Article 2:    A photocopy of your passport or your birth certificate with a picture must be sent with your registration.

Article 3:    At the weigh-in you must present a document proving that you are affiliated to an Association / Federation in good standing with the IJF.

Article 4:    The Rules and Regulations of the International Judo Federation are applied.  Only duration of the bouts will be modified and fixed at three (3) minutes.  For the age categories of sixty (60) and more, the duration of the bouts will be two and a half (2-1/2) minutes.  The blue judogi is not mandatory.

Article 5:    The Golden Score Formula is in application.

Article 6:     A minimum of two (2) competitors is needed in each weight/age class to be declared panamerican masters judo champion.

Article 7:    The Tournament Director reserves the right to apply the type of competition formula based on the number of participants in an weight/age  category

Golden Score Rules

Article 1:     When the duration of the bout has come to an end and that the advantages and penalties are equal to each other, the results will be decided by “Golden Score”.

Article 2:     The Time Keeper will indicate the initial time on the clock. 

Article 3:     All scores indicated on the board will be erased.

Article 4:     The referee will begin the bout normally. No rest period will be allowed between the initial bout and the beginning of the “Golden Score” bout. 

Article 5:     The first score or penalty given will determine the winner of the bout.

Article 6 :    At the first score (or penalty) the end of  the bout is immediately announced.  For example, id a Judoka is held down (osaekomi) and that the hold down is held for ten (10) seconds, a Koka is accounted and the end of  the bout is announced.  The victory is by “Koka”.

Article 7:     If no advantage (or penalty) is scored during the “Golden Score” bout, the result will be decided by the referee and the corner judges that will indicate the winner by raising the fags with the appropriate color.  It will be indicated on the sheets as a victory by “Hantei”. 

Team Tournament:

 Article 1:     The team tournament is the last event indicated on the Championship program.

Article 2:    The Team Tournament is comprised of male teams of five (5) judokas and female teams of three (3) judokas. Competing separately.

Article 3:    The teams must be comprised of judokas from the same National Federation or Association or the same nationality.  Only one judoka that does not comply with these requirements may be integrated in the team as a “guest”.

 Article 4 :   The Team Name must reflect the origin of the Judokas. 

Article 5:    The team may name a replacement that must be indicated and declared at the registration of the team.  This judoka will be invited to receive a medal even if he/she did not participate in any bouts. 

Article 6:    Once a judoka has been replaced he or she can not re-enter the tournament.

 Article 7:    The team must align themselves in order of weight starting from the light weight and must keep this order throughout the whole tournament. 

 Article 8:    All male teams must have and maintain a minimum total age of 200 years by adding the ages of all five team members.  This age rule does not concern the female teams.

 Article 9:    A replacement may be integrated to a team at all levels anytime of the competition before the initial  bow of each team bout. The  referees must make  sure to verify that the  replacement is correctly  registered on the  match sheet at the time of  registration of the  team.  The replacement  must align himself /  herself in the proper  weight order and in the  case of the male team,  the sum of the ages  must not be less than 200  years of age.

 Article 10: The number of teams per country must be announced at the beginning of the tournament. 

Article 11: The medals will be awarded to the first, Second and third place teams.

 Article 12:  The duration of the bout is fixed at three (3) minutes no matter what the age of the participant maybe.

 Article 13: The rule of the « Golden Score » does not apply except in the case of a tie as stipulated in article 15.

 Article 14: All players disqualified by direct «hansokumake»  because of an action that  could endanger his  opponent or for unethical  behavior will be  eliminated from the  tournament and in this  case may not be  replaced by the team  replacement player.

 Article 15: The results of the matches (bouts) by a team will be established by the number of individual victories.  In the event of a tie, the team with the highest amount of points will be declared the winner.  In the event of a tie in points, the tied matches will be decided by compulsory using the “Golden Score” rule.  In the event that the judokas of the tied matches are unable to participate in the match, the victory will be automatically given to the opposing player.  The victory will be given to the team with the greater number of victories of the new matches in question
