PANAMERICAN JUVENIL AND JUNIOR JUDO CHAMPIONSHIPS
SOUTH AMERICAN JUVENILE AND JUNIOR JUDO CHAMPIONSHIPS

Buenos Aires, Argentina, March 26th 2003, (PJU Press Commission). Today, March 26th, national delegations of the countries participating in the Panamerican Juvenile (15- 16 year olds) and Junior (17- 19 year olds) Championships started to arrive early in the morning to this beautiful city of Buenos Aires (Argentina).

The first delegations to arrive in Buenos Aires were Peru, United Status of America and Chile. These delegations were welcomed by the Argentinean Judo Confederation Organizing Personnel at Ezeiza Airport, who have prepared an effective logistical deploy.

The Argentinean delegation, the most numerous of the event, has also been concentrating for some days in Buenos Aires, finishing their preparation for the big commitment of defending their colours, since they are the host national team in this huge event, which year after year takes place in Panamerica. The Argentinean team will present different teams, one in the Panamerican Championships and another one in the South American Championships, in the juvenile and junior categories. 

United Status presented 14 competitors, Peru presented 8 competitors and Chile presents 11 competitors for this two events.

Mexico and Uruguay are also expected to arrive in Buenos Aires today with 7 and 8 athletes respectively.

For tomorrow, Thursday 27th March, it is expected the arrival of the National Federation from Ecuador, Dominican Republic and Venezuela (1:40 y 2:00 am.), who have registered 5, 7 and 30 competitors respectively.

The powerful federation from Brazil will be participating in this event as well, and their arrival is expected for 27th in the morning. Prof. Paulo Wanderley pointed out that the Brazilian Judo Confederation will participate in both events (Panamerican and South American Championships) with full teams.

Likewise, the arrival of the National Teams from Bolivia and Colombia is expected early in the morning, and these teams will present 4 and 9 competitors each.

The Argentinean Judo Confederation chose the “CIRCULO DE LA FUERZA AEREA” as Official Hotel for these Panamerican and South American Championships. This hotel is located in Av. del Libertador 661, Capital Federal, Buenos Aires. Tel & Fax (54) 11 – 4513- 6211 / 18

The participating delegations are transported to the CENARD (National Sports Centre for High Performance Level), where they would be handing in their judoguis and be accredited. They will, afterwards, be transported to the hotel of the organization.  

They are already in the city of Buenos Aires, the PJU Sports Director, Lic. Frank Fullerton and Ing. Carlos Diaz, as well as the General Secretary and Treasurer of the Panamerican Judo Union, Cr. Oscar Cassineri and Ing. Edgar Claure, previewing the arrival of the COPA AIR Flight coming from Santo Domingo and our PJU President,  Ing. Jaime Casanova Martinez, who will be getting here today March 26th by 8:30 pm. 

In the coming days, we will be offering you an extended covering of the most important facts of these Panamerican Juvenile and Junior Championships. For this Friday, the organization of the Technical Meeting and Draw is planned to be carried out at 6 pm (18 hs) and at 7pm. (19hs).
