FIRST EDUCATION AND COACHING SEMINAR OF THE
PANAMERICAN JUDO UNION

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, from 4th to 11th November 2002

Santo Domingo, November 4th, (11:00 p.m) Media Commission (Special Reporter). Today was the first day of the Education and Coaching Seminar of the Panamerican Judo Union, where coaches and leaders from all the countries affiliated from America meet.

The opening ceremony was presided by Ing. Jaime Casanova Martinez (Dominican Republic), accompanied by all the Executive Committee formed by Cr. Oscar Cassineri (Argentina), General Secretary, Ing. Edgar Claure Mayorga (Bolivia), Treasurer, Lic. Frank Fullerton (United States of America), Sports Director, and Ing. Carlos Diaz (Venezuela), Refereeing Director.

Among the lecturers who are today present, we find: Teodoro Amici (Argentina), Rogerio Sampaio (Brazil), Lic. Luis Chevez (El Salvador), who after the opening ceremony started with their respective speeches.

The Program was fully respected. Lic. Luciana Sosa, started the opening of this first Seminar by introducing the Executive Committee members, and announcing the opening and welcoming words of Ing. Jaime Casanova, President of the Panamerican Judo Union, who said:

..."It is a real honour for me to be here, in this first edition of the Education and Coaching Panamerican Seminar, which in this opportunity coincides with the 50th Aniversary of the Creation of our Continental Union, and thus I must thank you all for attending this celebration in this first fiftieth Aniversary. The Executive Committee of the Panamerican Judo Union is making a considerable effort in all its areas, searching for benefits for the affiliated countries bases, that is to say, for their competitors, coaches and referees.

During this year, we have organized the Tecnical Seminar for Referee Director, in Puerto Rico, and afterwards, we organized the First Training Camp, in Isla Margarita, Venezuela. Finally, here we are, celebrating the first Education and Coaching Seminar organized by the Education and Coaching Commission of the Panamerican Judo Union.

It is a double pleasure for me since it is not only the Panamerican Judo Union the one who has prepared this celebration in this special date, but also beacuse it is conducted in Dominican Republic, the home of you all too"...
