USA Judo is saddened to report the
Death of George Uchida

My father, George Uchida passed away early Friday morning. I want to express my gratitude for every ones thoughts and kindness. George loved life and he loved Judo. More importantly he loved all people not just judo people. Judo to Dad wasn’t about gold medals, it was about developing good people, good citizens. He touched us all, just as the wind, rain, sunshine. Some times it feels good, other times it could be harsh, but always a just and fitting lesson. 79 years seems so short, I’m jealous, selfish, and sad he is gone, and also I’m happy for my father, he is on his next great adventure. Thank you for being a part of my father’s life. It has been an enriching experience for all of us, (mutual prosperity, mutual benefit). My father died a wealthy man because of all of you. Please don’t be sad, the heavens are rejoicing to have him. George is now everywhere and a part of all of us.
